Addictions II: The New Batch

Okay so I just got ahold of a copy of Typing of the Dead, and BOY have I learned I rely way too damn much on Firefox, Gmail, and MS-Word's auto-spellcheckers. I can't type worth crap anymore.

I remember back when I interned during high school as a clerk at the Texas Office of the Attorney General, Child Support Division, I could type 50+ wpm with NO ERRORS. Man I got wailed on by fricken zombies left and right and ITS ONLY BEEN A DECADE SINCE MY FIRST JOB!

*sob*

Anywho, I'm having a blast with it, I'm super tempted to make another goal to save up to buy a House of the Dead game cabinet. So far I've found a few for less than 400 bucks. Pipe Dream, I know, but a guy can dream.

I went to Gamestop.com to see about snagging some PS2 games (Bloodrayne 2 and Cold Fear), and lo and behold the site was down... BUT what I did discover was even more entertaining than bargain shopping online with coupon codes:

Instead of some boring ass "our site is down here are the upcoming features" crap, they did do that BUT they had some hellaciously funny person write some funny and insane stuff on the descriptions of each feature. Not all of it is comedic gold but it really perked me up to see someone put some solid effort into making something that shoulda been dead-boring into something humorous. Sadly I'm sure only a few people will take the time to read this bit of wonderment, but I'm glad I did.

What's The Deal: Couples Activities

What's the deal with couples doing random crap together? All this outdoorsy crap like bike riding? Hiking? Camping? Foreign Film Festivals?

Seriously, all this healthy activities just start being done because they're "with someone". Its like they have a reason to live, a reason to be more active and thus healthy. Its all crap they never did when they were single. So what's the deal?

You ask someone who was currently single to do something and wham! They're off with you on your crazy Quixotic adventure to blockbuster. Now they are unsingle and you ask them the same question and they're off doing pottery or goin' to Starbucks for, get this, the "atmosphere".

This is some sick shit.

And I mean it. Why can't anyone be in a relationship where they are doing sane/normal things together. Why can't you sit and watch tv together? Why can't they read books in the same room then discuss when they hit interesting points. WHY CAN'T THEY FUCKIN' STAY INDOORS?

If they want to be sweaty they can workout together or fornicate. Noooooooo... somehow sunlight and "fresh air" have to make an appearance. *shakes fist at nature*

Nowhere in the bible does God scorn air conditioning. Maybe in some kinda pagan scroll somewhere but not my good ol' written by Jesus' Pals New Testament did my saviour ever spake against the ill-bodings of fluorescent lighting.

I mean seriously people, just because they do that crap in books and movies doesn't mean you HAVE to go to an alternative art gallery and pretend to understand what the hell is going on. Yes, its elephant feces and cut outs of women's butts accenting a terrible artist rendering of the Virgin Mary. No, you do not have to pretend to like it or get it. And, of course, you know and we know its poop and magazine cut outs adorning half-assed "artwork" that woulda gotten you detention and your parents called-in during high school.

So please people, do not put yourselves in some little stereotypical relationship box. You will eventually come to hate either yourself or your partner trying to emulate a scripted/directed moment captured on celluloid.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance

So its Spring Break for me until March 25th and so I'm making wonderful use of time getting caught up with my reading for Brit Lit, working on my Dad's truck that I do not get to ride nor drive, and also I get to play the shit out my birthday gift Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the PS2.

I love it. I love it so much I get half a chubby thinking about my team.

Oh yes, my team:

My core members of my team, dubbed Onyx Ops, are Ms. Marvel aka Carol Danvers, Spider-Man aka Ben Reilly, Invisible Woman aka Dr. Susan Richards, and of course Deadpool aka Wade T. Wilson.

Ms. Marvel's costume of choice is the Binary suit, Spidey's is The Scarlet Spider costume, Invisible Woman's is her classic duds, and Deadpool is gussied up as Ultimate Deadpool.

Together they make up my ultimate core team, which occasional swaps for Spider-Woman and Luke Cage. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is damn addictive, I don't actually turn off the PS2 I just switch off the screen while the game is paused. I've already beaten the game on Easy just yesterday and am not to the second mission under Normal with my favorite costumes and characters after using Easy mode to get a feel for the game and tactics.

Scarlet and Deadpool are my ranged attackers using Web Bullets and Dual Pistols to mow through large foes, while Invisible Woman is my Shield/Boss Slayer, with Ms. Marvel on Crowd Control. So far only 1 set of knockouts, Ms. Marvel and Invisible Woman were taken out during the Fin Fang Foom battle on the SHEILD Helicarrier because I was too busy swigging a diet rootbeer than to activate their buffs in time. Ah well, DP and Scarlet are there for a reason.

Anywho I love this game, heard there is a sequel coming so I'm super psyched.

Yeah I'm a Wee Bit Burnt Out... (gah i type every word with the first letter capitalized due to the comic grrrrrr)... yeah i'm a bit burnt out comicking so basically no real comic today. Here is a quick two panel using a Contest photo from Poe Ghostal's Points of Articulation blog. Right now he's running a contest for funniest caption with the prize being a Mint In Package Hulkbuster Iron Man marvel legends figure. That sucker is pure gold if you're a reseller or trader or collector.

I am WELL aware that in the 3 title panels in the new comic "Fugitives" is mispelled "Fugivites", its a nod to the horrible horrible engrish often times found in anime... as the Kupocat storyline is a nod to the whole DBZ "sagas" deal, so thats why I included the commercial break midway through the story with a quick "recap" panel of the story at hand.

Okay I fixed up the site a bit, put an invisible table, and added in a tiled background for IE users. Also added in a current cast page to keep track of all the wacky denizens of FFR. I'll be updating that too with headshots for each character. (Instead of handcoding it I just copy and pasted it into MS-word, I'm lazy, I know.)

I have a headache from listening to mp3s for the last 4 hours but the computer lab is full of idiots playing stupid Youtube videos on full volume, so c'est la vie.

Anywho, one of my trades is gonna come through, leaving me waiting for Johnny Storm and Marvel Girl. Poop.

New Nine Inch Nails Album For Free

So I just found that the new NIN album Ghost is avaialble for free off the NIN site. You can download the first 9 of the 36 tracks of the Ghosts I-IV right off the site. Or you can go on The Pirate Bay site and get the torrent personally uploaded by Trent Reznor himself. I admit to owning Pretty Hate Machine, The Downward Spiral, and The Fragile from my high school days. My favorite songs were always the instrumentals and the entire Ghost albums are pure just mood music...

While it is nice to have fans, especially ones that have made demands in the past to be in the comic in an angry fashion for no real particular reason, I'll summarize my reply here for your perusal:

"Dude, 2 comics a week x 1 new appearance a week = a helluva alot of weeks until you get even name dropped."

Addictions

I currently have about 8 to 10 figure trades running at the moment on 2 different action figure customizing forums. Its an addiction because I"m doing about half of those to complete other people's trades so I don't have to trade any of the stuff I WANT to keep. In the end I end up loosing nothing but 1 figure and a figure part from my personal collection plus about 13 bucks in shipping costs and I end up scoring like 8 figures and a figure part. I love the barter system.

Its fricken addicting, but the downside is every so often I get jammed with stalled trades due to MIA traders. I"m still waiting on an in package Marvel Girl variant, Hasbro ML Johnny Storm, Hasbro ML The Thing, Thorbuster Iron Man, Blackheart, and spiderman 3 movie Black Cat. I always come through on my trades, sure i can be late shipping a day or two but I got responsibities at home to tend to, but I DO come through.

Anywho, Comic coming in about 90 minutes, be afraid, be very afraid.

Site Update

I updated the strips to feature a bit more uniformity, all of them sport black backgrounds and feature a "home", "previous" and "next" links to let you scroll through the comics or go back to the main page at the very top. I seriously need to fix up the site. Badly but I can't find my Frontpage CD anywhere. So can anyone recommend an HTML editor, something kinda simple that doesn't add a bunch of useless code to your source pages like Frontpage usually does?
